Imagine yourself in a dark, secluded room, with zero connection with the outside world. A room that has no window or ventilation. Neither there’s light, nor any fresh air coming in. Also imagine that you have to stay in this claustrophobic place for the next few hours, without any fresh food or water. What would be your reaction?
Now look around and see what you find? Your comfortable home, your beloved family, your clothes and shoes and cell phone and laptop! Internet and cable to connect with the world. A variety of food items in the fridge and air conditioner/heater to keep you comfortable. The list of the luxuries we have is endless!
Now decide! Shouldn’t every breath you take be full of gratitude and satisfaction? Can we deny the fact that there are millions of people around the world leading lives in the condition described in the first paragraph? However, the fact that we are reading this reflection, in itself is the proof that we belong to the category of people in the second paragraph, Alhamdulillah.
Let’s take a moment and offer thanks to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, from the deepest core of our hearts. Also, let’s try to reform our thoughts and be satisfied with whatever He Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has blessed us with. Indeed we are among the blessed people, who don’t even know what it feels like to be in a dark room, let alone live such a life.
Alhamdulillah e katheeran!
